On November 24th 2006, I will be hosting “animation soup in Toronto” in Toronto. Japanese animation is highly popular in the world and is televised in Canada everyday. The majority of animation that broadcasted is mostly for children. Recently in Japan, a new genre “art animation” created by young animators is becoming popular. Mainly the animation is created by hand-drawn, cut-out(paper), clay puppet and sand. The creator’s techniques are demonstrated by their work.

Toronto is known for its multiculturism and our expectation is this screening will bring a new understanding of Japanese animation to Toronto. We want the collaboration of music and animation from singer song writer Futaba Nakayama and Canadian jazz band PHIL’N’ THE DOTS to create the animation soup of Canada.
